Yorkshire & The Humber

Doncaster Chamber of Commerce

Robin Hood Airport is a great success story. Opened in April 2005 it served 1 million passengers a year and its future success is paramount for the regeneration of South Yorkshire and the wider region.

To ensure that the airport can grow there is wide support for the Finningley & Rossington Route Regeneration Scheme (FARRRS) – the proposed link road from the M18 motorway to the Airport.

It has been estimated that FARRRS will create an estimated 11,000 jobs, ease congestion and ensure regional connectivity for the 22 million people who live in the 2 hour catchment area.

In late 2006 the planning application for Programme Entry was submitted to the Department of Transport…and since then nothing. Despite the best effort of local MP’s and stakeholders no decision is forthcoming and the economic development of the region is left in limbo.
